Nordstrom to buy flash-sale website HauteLook Seattle Times
Nordstrom’s planned purchase of HauteLook will bring the retailer 4 million subscribers and access to the booming flash-sale arena plus a stock bonanza for the Los Angeles website’s owners. The move is part of Nordstrom’s campaign to increase its web presence and enhance the mobile shopping experience for its customers by alerting them to “act now” deals.
Businesses have a couple new local advertising tools thanks to an easier AdWords alternative called Boost and a Google Maps feature called Tags. The ultimate success of these new Google tools is uncertain though, with Facebook contending for display ad dollars and cost-per-click competition coming from Groupon.
